Nose to the grindstone

Emeline, you might be wallowing around in your nappies right now and happily babbling time away… But i fear a not so clear future awaits you… That is if you consider your name to be an omen.

Here’s what an elated-looking baby told me on a randomly found website regarding the meaning of your pretty name:

Emeline
Hardworking. Variant of Emily, from an Old German variant of Emmeline.
Origin: French

I wonder what Mummy and Daddy had in mind when they called you that…

A manifest destiny to expand

Baby Emeline has reached new heights as beaming Mummy reveals promising latest figures. Our Nantes envoy confirms that Baby Emeline is now 5.450 kg for an astonishing 61 cm.

In terms of Boxcar children books, it’s about a pile of 61 Boxcar books, each one being roughly 1cm thick (1.01 to be quite precise).

In terms of weight, according to Amazon.com, the first book of the Boxcar series is 3.8 ounces, i.e. 107.73 grams. Baby Emeline weighing 5,450 grams, she weighs 50.589 BoxcarChildrenBook units.

And now for some smarty pants trivia

Gertrude Chandler Warner was born in Putnam, Connecticut, in 1890 and lived there until she died in 1979. As a young girl, Warner lived near some railroad tracks, where she spent many hours thinking about what it would be like to set up house in a boxcar or caboose. Warner became a teacher during World War I and, inspired by her childhood fantasy, wrote The Boxcar Children in 1942. A total of 19 books followed in the Boxcar Children series. All revolve around a mystery and have the overarching themes of independence and resourcefulness. Her books have remained popular favorites with children for the last fifty years.

Latest measurements

Mom Anne-Lise beamed on the phone as she told me how our little Emeline was doing.

The adorable little baby is only a few hundred grams away from the 5 kg mark. A loaded diaper should do the trick, right mom?

The latest figures show Emeline now weighs 4.74 kg and is 56 cm tall. As soon as I get my hands on a real playmobil, and its dimensions, I’ll let you know how much Emeline’s weight is in psu (playmobil standard unit).

Emeline’s first birthday!

In a couple days’ time, Emeline will turn a month old. She’s been sleeping, drinking milk, mmmm (marvelous mom milk meal), and enjoying every last minute.
Emeline is truly a record baby. Apart from her weight at birth (some 4.2 kgs), she’s also reached the top 2 links when googled and had her phone conversation a little over a week ago. Surely she’ll be a quick learner. She’ll be babbling in no time.

Pop’ Stéphane has sent another batch of pictures and with no further dribble, here they are:

Today, Google gave me the biggest surprise of all. As I was thinking about my baby niece, I thought I’d check out the blog’s ranking, and therefore typed in baby Emeline not expecting any miracles of course. Well, what do you know? Here’s what popped back up:

And that’s not all: the following website in that Google search gives us some interesting information regarding the name “Emeline”. Apparently it’s not what you would call a popular name in the US…. At least not in the nineties:
